Mojave Nectar

Mojave Nectar is an herbal drink containing
a large number of botanical ingredients, of which the main one is yucca
Schidegra.
The yucca plant grows wild in the deserts of
the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. It is a tall,
flowering plant with sturdy fibrous leaves, some shaped like a Spanish
bayonet having needle-like tips.
Yucca is a strong and tough plant. Its ability
to withstand the extremes of the desert awed local inhabitants.
Searing summer heat, freezing winter nights, gusting winds and long
droughts had little effect on the yucca.
For centuries, the desert Indians of the American
southwest used just about every part of the yucca plant for food, housing,
soap, clothing, and utensils. The Indians considered the importance
of the yucca to be second only to water. All parts of the desert yucca
were utilized: flower petals, seeds, seedpods, fruit, shoots, leaves,
and roots. They were eaten raw, baked, boiled, made into flour, used
as a sweetener or herbal tea. The yucca plant contains a natural soaplike
substance called saponin that forms suds when agitated in water.
Yucca extract has been widely used in dry form
and is available in capsules or tablets. But Mojave nectar features
the liquid yucca Schidegra essence with a pleasant bitter taste.
Since the nineteen-sixties, much scientific
research has been directed toward this wonderful desert plant, a true
gift of nature that more people all over the world can enjoy.
